Hi my name is Casey and I am 12 years old and go to Clairvaux Catholic School. Over the past few weeks we have been choosing different activities to do in reading off our Reading Grid. I hope you enjoy reading and exploring my page.
This book is called Conspiracy 365 - May and is by Gabrielle Lord. First I started with fotobabble but some of the buttons on that didn't work, so I decided to change to AudioBoo which took ages to load. I had already recorded my voice and saved it as a wav file so I sent it to Pam my teacher and she helped me finish it. This activity has helped me alot to improve on my clarity, volume, expression and fluency. I had to use clarity so people could understand what I was saying, volume so it wasn't too loud or to quiet, expression in my voice so people could picture what was happening and fluency so I didn't sound like a robot. I think I still need to work on my clarity because sometimes I speak too fast.
BIG DIRD
Big Dird is one of the Reading Grid Activities. I did it on the Series of Conspiracy 365 by Gabrielle Lord. Dird stands for Describe, Illustrate, Responded to by others, Do and Say. First we had choose a book or series. Then we had to describe the character, Illustrate the person, Write what people thought of the person, Write what they do and write what they say. This activity was really fun.
Online Quiz for 'The Flood'
Reflection Questions
What was the task?
In the last term we have been asked to form a group of at least 3. My group is Chloe, Darcey and I. We had to make an online quiz with the information of a shortlisted Book Week book. We chose the book 'Flood'. We had to decide as a group what questions each person had to focus on. I chose the Illustrations and the Setting. After we chose that we had to make a question for the people who complete the quiz to answer. Then we had to come up with four answers, but only one of the answers would be correct and the people who complete the quiz would have to read the book and decide on one of the answers for each question.
What did you enjoy most about this task?
The most enjoyable part about this task was making the answers for the question because they didn't have to be correct and we could have a bit of fun making them up.
What was your biggest challenge?
The biggest challenge was learning how to use the site 'Polldaddy' because it was hard to find out what all of the buttons meant and we forgot to save our work for the first 4 times, so we had to start again every time.
Which skill did you find the most useful?
The skill that was most useful was making a quiz because I can use Polldaddy anytime and I can also use it next year at Sacred Heart.
List 2 ways this task could help you in your future learning?
